The Best Time To Tweet Is 5pm EST

I came across an interesting article posted on the KISSmetrics site: The Science of Social Timing Part 1: Social Networks. I’m intrigued by the eye-opening stats like nearly 50% of the U.S. population is in the Eastern Time Zone, the best time to tweet is 5pm EST and Saturday is the best day to post on Facebook.

We know that plotting and planning to maximize your social networks is a must. And of course it doesn’t hurt to share your content at optimal times to attract the most exposure.

The following stats are courtesy of Dan Zarrella at HubSpot:

  • 5PM Eastern Time is the best time to tweet.
  • The best tweeting frequency is 1 to 4 tweets per hour.
  • Saturday is the best day to share content on Facebook.
  • Noon Eastern Time is the best time of the day to share content on Facebook.
  • The best sharing frequency on Facebook is .5 posts per day.

I would love to hear your comments on what you find effective when it comes to posting on Twitter and Facebook. Do you agree with the stats above? Let me know. I’ll be listening..
